First Phase: 31,000 Covid-19 Vaccines Arrive in Bali

GOVERNOR of Bali, Wayan Koster, expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for giving great attention to the Bali Provincial Government because Bali was given a large portion of the Covid-19 vaccine along with other regions.
Wayan Koster expressed his gratitude when he received the Covid-19 vaccine delivered by Biofarma Bandung on January 3, 2021 to Bali Province and arrived in Denpasar on Tuesday (Jan. 5) at 00:30 local time in the morning at the Bali Health Office.
With strict guard, the vaccine was received directly by the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, together with the Commander of the IX/Udayana Military Region, Maj. Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak, Bali Police Chief, Inspector General Police Putu Jayan Danu Putra, Bali Provincial Secretary, Dewa Made Indra, and the Head of the Bali Health Office, Ketut Suarjaya. The vaccine produced by Sivovac totally amounted to 31,000 vials.
“Currently, vaccines are still in the testing phase by National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM), and these vaccines are stored in the vaccine storage room (cold-room) of the Bali Health Office before being distributed to all districts and municipality in Bali,” said the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster.
In detail, Governor Koster explained that for the first stage, the vaccine is targeting health workers in the front row totaling 30,320 people. In Jembrana District, they amount to 1,533 people, Tabanan District (3,118 people), Badung District (5,551 people), Gianyar District (3,134 people), Klungkung District (1,691 people), Bangli District (1,246 people), Karangasem District (1,074 people), Buleleng District (3,590 people) and Denpasar City (9,383 people).
“Regarding the distribution to the district and municipality is waiting for a decision from the Central National Agency of Drug and Food Control,” he explained.
For the arrival of the vaccine produced by Sinovac on the Island of the Gods, Wayan Koster stated that it is an honor for the Central Government to the Bali Province given quite a large portion of the vaccine, namely 31,000 vials and a priority of the central government because Bali is indeed a target for accelerating the health recovery from the Covid-19 in the context of restoring tourism in the Bali Province. Besides, it also gives confidence in national tourism, including as an effort to restore the economy of Bali and Indonesia.
“In several meetings related to the handling of Covid-19 with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, and the relevant ministers, Bali is mentioned to get priority because Bali as a world tourist destination and expected to recover quickly from Covid-19. Then, it will also be followed with the trust of the people of Indonesia and the world to restore the life of tourism in the Bali Province in order to revive the economy on the Island of Bali and Indonesia in general,” he said while hoping this can really be implemented as well as possible in accordance with standard procedures imposed by the Central Government. *BTNewspaper/pr
